Productivity App

Introduction
So it’s a beginning of a new year, and like every year you’ve probably set a list of resolutions. One of the resolutions on your list must be to stop being on your phone for so long and get important things done, right? Mine for sure is, and one of the things that are dragging me down and stopping me from fulfilling that goal is scrolling through social media with me having so much to do.

The app concept that I’ve been working on is meant to solve exactly that issue — to show you how much time you’re spending on your phone and where exactly that time went, calculating how productive you’ve been throughout the day.

Design Process

When starting on a project, I usually stick to a routine/design process that makes my designs be as consistent as possible. No matter what kind of a project it is, I stick to these golden 4 steps:

01 Research
02 Sketch & Wireframe
03 Moodboard & Resources
04 Design

Research

The goal is to create an app that tracks all the time you spent in apps and calculates your productivity score; no app is already in existence only the screen time on our phones which people do not necessarily pay attention to, this work is to redefine and redesign it.

Some specific problems with the app were:
it is just a part of our phones and we do not pay attention to
the chart looks confusing
It can’t select a period (week, month), only 3 weeks for the overview.
they can’t add a stopwatch; to be notified when to stop using a particular app.

Sketch & Wireframe
Did sketches on paper, that way I can easily see if what I had in mind makes sense without taking up too much time to wireframe it. It was a very essential process to follow.

Resources and Design
Internet surfing and finding inspirational work from other great designers is also really key. Dribbble and Mobbin are the go-to websites that I visit every day to keep up to date with the new trends and look for inspiration when starting with new projects. I also save every shot that I like for when I start a new project like this one, I can easily filter out the ones that could help me come up with a great design. After gathering a few designs similar to the design I want to create, I go straight to designing because, at this point, I already know what to do.
